FBI Ingin Sadap Facebook, Gmail, YM, dan Skype

U.S. security firm, the FBI, are being intensively to "approach" to several Internet companies, like Yahoo and Google.

As reported by CNET, the approach is done so that Yahoo and Google would agree to a proposal that would require Internet companies that enter a "backdoor" in all its products as part of the government surveillance program.

If the proposal is approved, it means that all movements of the user's Yahoo products, such as Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger (YM), and Google's products, such as Gmail, Google +, and GTalk, will be supervised FBI.

The FBI also secretly met with representatives of other companies, like Microsoft (owner of the Hotmail and Skype), and Facebook.

The goal is the same as when visited Yahoo and Google, the FBI wanted the products owned by Microsoft and Facebook, such as social networking sites, VoIP, instant messaging, and e-mail services, have changed the code.

Purpose of changing the program code is intended that the FBI can easily insert tools for the benefit of tapping.

The FBI had previously complained to Congress on the difficulty to supervise communications intercepts because the trend has shifted from traditional phone service to the internet.

Previously, there were already laws in the U.S. (Calea), which requires telecommunications companies to make their systems ready to be tapped government.

Later, it expanded with the applicable rules to the internet service company. However, web companies (such as Facebook, Google, and Microsoft) are not regulated in the law.

Steps taken by the FBI is likely to force the government to revise the existing laws so that they can be legally tapped into what is being discussed on Facebook, IM, Skype, and services e-mail.
